Hurricane Juan

There was a lot of talk on the radio and television about Hurricane Juan. It was two years ago today that it hit Nova Scotia.

Spiders, Frogs and Turtles...

I'm down in Nova Scotia Wednesday and Thursday this week. The work portion went according to plan. The one thing I have noticed here is that the spiders in this park are huge. I saw this guy from a distance, I actually thought it was a bee.

If this one doesn't look so big, how about this guy.

This is one of the road signs inside the park. Didn't actually see any.

The Mersey River runs through the park and eventually out to the Atlantic Ocean. The dark waters of the river are known locally as Mersey Tea. The colour comes from organic chemicals collected by surface water as it seeps through the forest soil . One of these chemicals is tannic acid, which also gives tea its colour.

There are not a lot of people in the park this time of the year.

The frogs are still out. I saw a number of them near the Visitor Centre.

This guy was really sunning himself.

Another shot of the Mersey River.

Heading down east this week

I'm making a quick trip down to Nova Scotia this week to install an instrument. Catching the first flight out on Wednesday and then the first flight back on Thursday.

I have found that this blog format is easier to keep the girls up to date while I am away.
