6th Annual Friends and Family Skate

For the sixth time in the last seven years we rented the ice at Meadowvale Four Rinks over the break. The girls had their friends out for some skating and shooting the puck around.

We did a group shot this year.

Christmas Day 2017

It was a white Christmas this year.

Our tree.

Chloe finding one of her presents, she then proceeded to unwrap it, not waiting for everyone else.

The girls just like Christmas mornings of years gone by.

In the afternoon we headed out to Lori and Dale’s for Christmas dinner. We also got to meet Willow, our newest grand-niece/first cousin once removed.

Bradley did a great job of carving the turkey, here he is getting some extra schooling from G-ma.

Lori and Dale’s new puppy, Harley, he was pooped by the end of the night. He was looking to play with Todd and Chloe, but they were having much to do with that.

Merry Christmas!

Gillian’s Birthday

Susan, Claudia and I headed up to Ottawa to visit Gillian on her birthday. Angela was unable to join us, as she was preparing for exams. We arrived on Friday afternoon, after dropping Chloe off at G-ma and G-pa’s. We stayed at Albert at Bay Suite Hotel.

On Saturday we started with breakfast at Chance’s R and then went to the Canadian Tire Centre for the opening ceremonies of the Roar of the Rings. The 50/50 sign advertising a whopping $10 prize.

This was the Olympic Trials, the top 9 mens and women’s teams were there to compete for the honour of representing Canada in Pyeongchang at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

After the Opening Ceremonies, we stayed for the first draw, both eventual winners, Rachel Homan and Kevin Koe were playing.

We took Gillian to The Grand Pizzeria for her birthday dinner in the ByWard Market. From the hotel we walked along Sparks Street.

We spotted some Santa’s out on a Pub crawl.

The Stanley Cup Monument on Sparks Street.

Chateau Laurier.

The 5.6 million dollar ice rink on Parliament Hill.

On the way back to the hotel we saw the Santa’s at the Bier Market on Sparks Street.

Nova Scotia

I was down in Nova Scotia for a site visit to Kejimkujik National Park. On the way back to Halifax at the end of the week, stopped in Lunenburg.

The waterfront was getting ready for their annual Christmas Parade.

Steelheads Game

Claudia and I went to the Steelheads games against the Saginaw Spirit. We had seats behind the Mississauga bench. Susan was at the game, but was up in the City’s corporate box with people from work.

It was the first game back for Owen Tippett, he had spent time in the NHL with the Florida Panthers, after being selected 10th overall in the 2017 amateur draft.

The Steelheads won the game 4-2.

Bat out of Hell

We went to see the musical Bat out of Hell at the Ed Mirvish Theatre, it was a good show. Afterwards we had dinner at Kenzo Ramen.

San Diego

I spent the week in San Diego, Ca for meetings, flew on Rouge Air for the first time.

The meetings were at the Bahia Resort Hotel.

The weather was good for most of the the week, temperatures were in the mid 20’s.

Shanna and David

Shanna and David were in town for a wedding (his nephew). They weren’t in town very long, David was only in for an extended weekend, and Shanna a few days more. We were able to see them on a couple of days. Sunday we were in Hamilton for dinner at Atami Sushi. It was delicious, thanks Mom and Dad! Here are Claudia and Angela with Shanna and David.

Shanna had brought back the ninja turtle costume Lori had made for her kids, Claudia tried it on.
