I’m finally getting around to updating the blog. After the start of April, our lives suddenly got very busy. Between family stuff, work and school council events, the blog got pushed down the list. Figure I should get this updated before we start our holidays. Only five days of school left for the girls, and it’s hard to believe Gillian graduates from grade eight on Monday. We’re looking forward to our vacation out west next month. Keep coming back, I have a couple of months of updates.
Bumble Bees
Some pictures of the bumble bee that was hanging around our lilac bush.

Claudia showing us her yoyo skills.

Angela.

One more bee shot.

Around The Backyard
We have a couple of rabbits that have been hanging out in the neighbourhood.

Some of the flowers around the yard.

Our inukshuk is getting lost in the plants.

We have a bunch of maple trees taking root around the yard.

Claudia jumping off the swing.

Baby Bird
The baby bird is still hiding out on our lawn, it goes from our evergreen to the other and back. There is a robin’s nest in the one evergreen, so whenever the mother comes to feed the bird on the ground the robins start squawking and try to chase away the mother bird.

Feeding time.

Camp Closing
We were all invited for lunch at Angela’s Guide camp. This was the last year for the leaders, they were retiring after more than 20 years as leaders of the 257th. They managed to recruit some new leaders for the group.

Debbie and Margot the leaders and their daugthers.

A final song.

Susan and Margot.

Gillian and Mrs Woods.

A group photo of all the 257th Guide unit.

Around The House
The rain and wind passed through today and it probably went through where the girls were camping. I took a picture out the front after the weather had passed.

This injured bird was on our front lawn. It must have fallen out of the nest, but the mother was still feeding it.

The mother.

Camp Weekend
It was camp weekend for all three girls. Angela had her year end Guide camp at Mountsberg Conservation Area. Gillian and Claudia were at Valens Conservation Area near Freelton with Pathfinders and Brownies. Our first drop off was Angela.

They had to wait for all the girls in their tent to arrive before they could set up their tent.

Gillian and Claudia blowing dandelions.

Next year they’ll be camping together.

Next it was on to Valens to drop off Claudia and Gillian. While we were there it started to rain, we helped Gillian get settled in and got soaked in the process. On our way home there was an amazing rainbow, super bright and it spanned the whole sky. By the time I could pull off the 401 at Campbellville Rd, it wasn’t as spectacular.

And Then She Was 9!
Happy Birthday to Claudia! She turned nine today.

Sisters!

Colin and Patrick Confirmation
The last of the confirmations were tonight in Markham. Colin and Patrick were being confirmed, so we were out to their place for dinner ahead of time. Susan was Colin’s sponsor.

Andrew was Patrick’s sponsor.

Claudia trying to sneak into the photo.

Second try.

Finally!

Another picture of the cousins. Eric not looking too excited.

Downtown
By the time we finished with the Don Jail, all the other doors were closed. We decided to head downtown and hopped on the streetcar from the corner of Broadview and Gerard.

We got off at Dundas Square, where there is always interesting people and things to see.

Dundas Square.

Deciding where to go.

We headed into the Eaton Centre and up to Indigo.

Angela and Gillian posing with Bella and Edward.

Claudia trying on a new pair of reading glasses.

Next we headed for dinner at the E-on restaurant. We went here years ago for dinner when I was small. One of the things we had was the snails. Here is Gillian trying them out.

Claudia liked them as well.

Leaving the restaurant and heading back to Dundas Square.

The angel was gone but Batman was in her spot.

Not sure if I’d be handing my infant over to some dude dressed as Batman at the corner of Yonge and Dundas.

Some drumming and dancing going on.

We headed over to the World’s Biggest Bookstore. Here is Grandma and Gillian.

After there it was to the subway and back home. It was a long, but fun day in the the city. We enjoyed the diagonal crosswalk at Yonge and Dundas, although it seems to be every other light, so you really have to pay attention to your signals.
