Tennessee Titans

I haven’t updated the work blog since the spring, but after I catch up with this one, I’ll get working on it. This week I went down to Nashville, Tennessee for an EPA conference on Ambient Air Monitoring. There were three of us from work who went down. We made plans to go down early on Sunday and catch the Tennessee Titans football game. The were 0-6 before the game and the last game they lost 59-0. Here is downtown Nashville.

Football game

It was my first NFL game and according to one of the guys I was with, it was pretty tame compared to a Bills home game.

It must have been us because the Titans won their first game of the season. They have since gone on to win three in a row.

Happy Halloween

Chloe was looking out the window waiting for kids to come to the door.

Chloe didn’t keep her skirt on very long.

Claudia

We only had about 20 kids come to the door. The girls and I went around the neighbourhood and they got a lot of “take what you want, we haven’t had very many kids”.

Chloe Update

It’s been awhile since we have done a Chloe update. She is still growing and keeping us busy.

Chloe

She loves playing with her margarine container. She is getting better with the shoes, we don’t have to hide them in the closet as often.

Chloe

She is going to the groomers next week and then the week after she is going in to get spayed.

Return From Camp

Angela and Claudia went camping with Guides this weekend. They are now in the same group, so that makes it a little easier on us (actually Susan) for meetings and camps. Here are the two of them airing out their bedrolls after coming home from camp.

Bedrolls

Their camp was at Camp Wyoka, so they were sleeping indoors.

Arrrrrgooooosss

We headed down to the Rogers Centre to watch the Argos take on the Montreal Alouettes. The game was a McMaster Alumni event. We went down with our friends from university Stam and Brenda and their daughter Kira. We met them at Union Station.

Part of our ticket price included an on field “tour” before the game, a pizza slice/drink, and autograph session after the game. By tour they mean the depths of the Skydome, once on the field we were able to walk around the edge and then we entered our seats from the field. The autograph session after the game was open to everyone.

We were at the Alouette end of the field.

We had a good time at the game. It was good to hang out with Stam and Brenda, we haven’t seen them for awhile. The girls can now say they have been to a football game.

Chloe’s Invisible Shield

Chloe seems to think that her bed has an invisibility cloak around it. Whenever she grabs something that she shouldn’t have she runs to her bed. Here she is with one of Claudia’s stuffed animals.

Chloe’s Cousins

We headed out to Hamilton to Lori’s to introduce Chloe to Mickey and Nike.

Outdoor Movie Night

What was planned for a few weeks ago as a back to school/end of summer event , finally came together. Our next door neighbour Lars and I wanted to put together a barbeque and movie night for the girls. We started with a barbeque in Lars and Julie’s backyard. That is Lily in the middle, looking for a handout.

BBQ

Here are the girls with Mady and Sarah.

Neighbour girls

A little bit of excitment after Chloe fell through a hole in their deck. They have cutouts in the deck for a cedar tree and when she was playing with Bella she fell through and disappeared.

Chaos

Once it got dark, we moved to the front and set-up the projector and screen that I had borrowed from one of the guys at work.

Movie

We watched “17 Again”. It turned out well, other than the odd plane going overhead. By the end of the movie, the temperature had dipped, it would have been a lot warmer back in August. The kids all had blankets. There were about 20 of us there for the movie. If we get an Indian Summer, we’ll try and do another one.

Cockapoo Humour

It’s been a busy week for the family, I just finished giving a 2 day workshop to six of our regional inspectors on our air and precipitation sampling program. It the third workshop I have put together this year for various sampling programs. The last time I gave this one was 3 years ago, so I was a little rusty, but it turned out well.

Susan had a night meeting yesterday and had to miss the first night of Chloe’s puppy lessons. The girls and I went and Chloe did well. When it came time for free play, they let the puppies off the leash and they can play with each other. The other six dogs were running around the room and ours sat by our feet.

Tonight was our first School Council meeting of the year and it looks like I’ll be Chair again this year. When I told them I would probably not be able to make the next meeting in October, the principal was more than willing to set the next meeting by my schedule. October will be a busy travel month for me, I have trips to Saratoga Springs, NY; Island Falls, SK; Chapais, QC; and Nashville,TN all in a span of about 6 weeks. Hope Chloe has some room in the dog house for me.

This little cartoon originally was sent to us in the mail by Aunt Gert, and a little digging on the Internet found the on-line version. The timing was perfect for us. Thanks! Aunt Gert.
