I was able to get tickets for the Rick Mercer Report this year. Susan and I are going down for the taping in November, it will be for the show that will air on November 17th. Looking forward to the show.
Bath Day
Today was bath day for Chloe, I thought why not take her for a good run, get her tired out and then give her a bath. We headed over to the Meadowvale Conservation Area not far from the house. The girls found a sloth tree (a tree which allows them to hang like a sloth).
There was lots of open space for Chloe to run around. We stayed clear of the GINA picnic. GINA is short for “Greyhounds In Need of Adoption”. It is an organization that tries to find homes for retired racing Greyhounds.
We stayed clear of the Hogweed. It looks like giant Queen Annes Lace, the sap is bad news if it gets on human skin.
We remembered there “use to be” a bridge to cross over the river.
It wasn’t very nice down by the river, lots of broken glass and beer bottles.
We were teaching Chloe her name.
Some of the leaves are starting to change already.
We found another path to the river and when Claudia stepped towards it, the ground moved. It was a garter snake that freaked her out. Later I started stopping on the ground and he started to slither away.
Claudia poking around for more snakes.
Chloe was tired out after our walk, she decided she was going to lie down in the shade.
The girls with Chloe.
We headed back home and started to get her bath ready. It wasn’t her favourite thing, she looked like the drowned rat.
Here she is shaking away in the backyard. She looked pretty good afterwards.
Of course she was rolling around in the rocks and grass as soon as she got the chance.
A380
The world’s largest passenger jet flies over a few times a week. Since June of this year the Emirates Airline A380lands at Pearson on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, it passes over around 3:30 in the afternoon. We get alot of the larger planes making their approach because the north E-W runway is the longest at Pearson. Here is the A380 from our backyard.
I found these photos on the internet.
11th First Day of School
Today was Gillian’s eleventh First Day of School. Everyone got off to school on time, Gillian got a ride with Sarah and Angela and Claudia walked with Madyson. I met the girls at school, just to see that they found their teachers and check the school council mailbox. Here are the girls out in front of the house. (Grades 9, 4, 6)
Here is the girls first day of school from 2004. It was the first time all three were in school, Gillian was in Grade 4, Angela was in Grade 1 and Claudia started JK.
And a Chloe picture from the first day of school.
Last Day of Summer Vacation
After a longer than usual summer vacation the girls finally reached the last day of summer holidays. Angela and Claudia are looking forward to heading back to school to see their friends and find out who their teachers are. Gillian is a little nervous heading to her first day of high school.
Claudia hanging around with Chloe.
Chloe looking pretty relaxed about the first day of school. Her first day is on the 15th when she starts puppy training school.
Angela is so relaxed about school she can levitate herself.
Angela and Madyson bouncing on her trampoline.
Chloe ready to do some sweeping.
Air Show
Gillian went down to the CNE Air Show on Saturday and she said it was really good. I was down at Spadina and Adelaide on Friday afternoon for a meeting and saw and heard them practising. Over the weekend we saw a few planes from our backyard, but I didn’t get any pictures until Monday afternoon. Here is Fat Albert, the US Navy C130 Hercules that travels with the Blue Angels.
Here are the Blue Angels, they are like the Snowbirds. The Blue Angels are based out of Pensacola Florida.
A couple of fighter jets flew over the backyard as well. They were routing most of the commercial airliners to the south East-West runway during the airshow, so it was pretty quiet for most of the afternoon.
Grandma’s Birthday
We had everyone over for a barbeque to celebrate Grandma’s birthday. Here she is looking and listening to Claudia’s scaaarry birthday card.
The grandkids on the ship for a photo.
I dug this photo out of the archives, it is from Claudia’s pirate birthday party in June 2002.
Grandma and Papa with the grandkids.
The cousins hanging out.
Gillian chasing Chloe out of the back garden.
Claudia jumping off the swing.
Time for some cake.

Chloe Chronicles 2
A few pictures of Chloe from during the week. She turned 10 weeks on Friday.
She loves her bucket.
Angela and Chloe.
Chloe playing frisbee with Angela or also known as chewing.
An action shot of Chloe running around the backyard in a frenzy.
Loki from next door trying to get a closer look at the furball running around.
Sometimes she poops herself out and plops down on the grass for a snooze.
Is she really asleep? or pretending?
Can you tell where she has been, perhaps the yellow petal from the black eye susan’s gives it away.
Getting belly rubs from Claudia.
Chloe with her rawhide stogie.
Another of her favourite toys outside.
Angela and Chloe
Angela did well at the dentist, she had a few tears but she was brave. Here she is after coming home with her puffy lips and cheeks. Some Tylenol and some Chloe cuddles and she was on the road to recovery.
When Chloe can’t find the girls, she thinks they are upstairs, so she’ll sit at the bottom of the stairs and bark. I made a gate for the stairs to keep her on the main floor. She hasn’t ventured through the hole in the door to the basement, the odd time she will poke her head through, it’s only a matter of time.
Whenever I get down on the ground to take her picture she comes running for the strap on my camera.
Besides pooping, peeing and playing she likes to sleep and she can sleep anywhere. Here she is stretched out on my legs.
She also has no trouble curling up or stretching out on the couch.
Angela’s Teeth
Angela is having four teeth pulled today in preparation for her braces. Just as Gillian is getting hers off, Angela is getting them on. I’ll let you know how it goes this afternoon.
