Angela completed her university applications this weekend. After campus visits to Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier, Guelph and McMaster, she has submitted her applications to a few programs. Most of her programs won’t make decisions until the new year.
Blue Jays Hoodie Day
It was the final Blue Jays home game today and it was Fan Appreciation Weekend. They were giving Blue Jay hoodies to the first 20,000 fans. We made our usual trek down to the Rogers Centre to get in line. Claudia chowing down on our pre-game ritual hot dog.
We arrived at 9:30 am and the lines were already longer than usual. We were at Gate 4 and there might have been 200-300 people ahead of us.
We all got a hoodie and everybody entering was given a rally towel.
Today’s starter was Mark Buehrle.
He gave a up a triple on the first pitch of the game, and it was a collective, oh no, here we go again.
Josh Donaldson.
Jose Bautista.
We were sitting in section 214 and with my big lens I was able to get some close-up shots.
Donaldson crossing the plate after Justin Smoak’s double.
Smoke with a lead-off of second.
Kevin Pillar.
Ryan Goins.
Some of the bench players watching the Jays fall behind 4-1.
Buehrle ended up going 6.0 innings, giving up 5 hits and 4 runs.
The Jays were able to tie the game in the eighth inning, which allowed Josh Donaldson to come to the plate in the bottom of the ninth, with 2 out and walk off home run to left field for the victory. Here he is in the red sunglasses coming to the plate.
It was a terrific finish to a good game.
Nobody left their seats for a good 10-15 minutes after he hit the home run.

University Fair
We headed down to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Friday with Angela and Claudia for the annual University Fair. When we got down there around 10:45 the line-up was pretty long. We managed to by-pass most of the line and got in quickly. Angela has narrowed down her options of which universities and programs that she is interested in. The next step is to visit some of the campuses over the next couple of months.
First Day of School
Today was the first day of school for the girls, even Gillian. McMaster started two days earlier this year, which allows them to have a week long mid-term recess in October as well as their traditional Reading Week in February. Angela has started Grade 12, Claudia Grade 10 and Gillian in entering third year. There was no photo out front this year, possibly a selfie of Ang and Claudia in the car on the way to school, so I pulled one out from the archives. Here are the three of them on September 6, 2005. Ten years ago they were in Grade 5, Grade 2 and SK.

Claudia’s Final Soccer Game
Claudia had her last soccer game on Wednesday. Her playoffs were this past Saturday, but we were going to be on vacation, so she missed it. She played goal the first half.
She had a good first half, their team were leading at the half.
From what I heard she also had a great game in goal last week and kept her team in the game. Even the referee commented on how well she did after the game.
In the second half she played defence.
Claudia during an injury time-out. Her team played a great game and won 3-2. The wins were few and far between this summer, but they had fun.
Froggin’
The girls and I were out at the Skjold-Pettersen’s a couple of Sunday’s ago. Unfortunately Susan had caught what I had earlier that week and was unable to go. There is a pond at their place with lots of frogs. Here is Angela trying to catch a frog.
Gillian with a bent foot in the hip waders after she got out.
Claudia right in there.
Before we left Angela asked Lars if she could drive the riding mower. Here she is taking Lars, Gillian and Claudia for a wagon ride.
Gillian took a turn and had Mady along for the ride.
The girls were having a great time.
At the end Lars took them all four of them around the yard for a ride.
Angela’s Final Soccer Game
Today was Angela’s final soccer game of the season, it was the playoffs, with only four teams this year, it was lose one and done.
This is how close my telephoto lens can get the planes in the sky from my lawn chair on the field.
It was a close game early on, but by half time, the other team was up 2-0.
Angela played defence the entire game.
Lots of of pushing and shoving going on throughout the game. It almost looks like they are doing the 3-legged race. I think the final score was 4-1.
There was a hawk that was flying around the marsh and would come to rest in one of the trees.
