Gillian’s Convocation

Gillian graduated from McMaster University with her Bachelor of Science summa cum laude in Molecular Biology & Genetics Co-op. Convocation was held at First Ontario Concert Hall (formerly Hamilton Place) in Hamilton, Ontario on June 14th, 2018. I was unable to attend, but they live stream and record the convocation on the web. Here is a snippet from the ceremony.

I borrowed these from Gillian’s Instagram post.

If you want to watch the entire proceedings, it is on YouTube.

Claudia’s Pre-Prom

Two days after getting back from Japan, it was Claudia’s grade 12 Prom. She had the pre-prom in our backyard before they headed to the Prom. Here she is with her friends.

Happy Birthday Lori!

We headed out to Brad and Chelsea’s in Binbrook to celebrate Lori’s milestone birthday. They made sushi and ordered Chinese food, and as usual I (we) ate too much. It was to good to pass up.

Happy New Year!

We headed out to Scarborough for New Year’s at Mom and Dad’s. Even though it was only a high of -9°C, the girls were determined to go tobogganing on the hill. Here are Gillian, Claudia and Emi getting a push from Angela.

Not sure what happened this year, but as we were all digging into the delicious dinner, Sara commented that we didn’t take any pictures of the food. I think it was the forgotten salmon that threw me off, usually I see it on the table and I pull out the camera. Oh well, the food was still great!

6th Annual Friends and Family Skate

For the sixth time in the last seven years we rented the ice at Meadowvale Four Rinks over the break. The girls had their friends out for some skating and shooting the puck around.

We did a group shot this year.

Christmas Day 2017

It was a white Christmas this year.

Our tree.

Chloe finding one of her presents, she then proceeded to unwrap it, not waiting for everyone else.

The girls just like Christmas mornings of years gone by.

The girls with their Bubba’s, all ready for Aruba!

Another family photo.

In the afternoon we headed out to Lori and Dale’s for Christmas dinner. We also got to meet Willow, our newest grand-niece/first cousin once removed.

Mom and Dad with all the grandkids and great-grandkids, we were only missing Jesse. If Shanna sends me a picture of Jesse stating against a plain background, I can photoshop him in beside Angela.

Goggles on for safety.

Bradley did a great job of carving the turkey, here he is getting some extra schooling from G-ma.

Lori and Dale’s new puppy, Harley, he was pooped by the end of the night. He was looking to play with Todd and Chloe, but they were having much to do with that.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all of our friends and family. Setting up for the photo.

Gillian’s Birthday

Susan, Claudia and I headed up to Ottawa to visit Gillian on her birthday. Angela was unable to join us, as she was preparing for exams. We arrived on Friday afternoon, after dropping Chloe off at G-ma and G-pa’s. We stayed at Albert at Bay Suite Hotel.

On Saturday we started with breakfast at Chance’s R and then went to the Canadian Tire Centre for the opening ceremonies of the Roar of the Rings. The 50/50 sign advertising a whopping $10 prize.

This was the Olympic Trials, the top 9 mens and women’s teams were there to compete for the honour of representing Canada in Pyeongchang at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

After the Opening Ceremonies, we stayed for the first draw, both eventual winners, Rachel Homan and Kevin Koe were playing.

We took Gillian to The Grand Pizzeria for her birthday dinner in the ByWard Market. From the hotel we walked along Sparks Street.

We spotted some Santa’s out on a Pub crawl.

The Stanley Cup Monument on Sparks Street.

Chateau Laurier.

The 5.6 million dollar ice rink on Parliament Hill.

On the way back to the hotel we saw the Santa’s at the Bier Market on Sparks Street.

Claudia and Gillian with the snowman, note Claudia stole the one shovel for the photo.

Steelheads Game

Claudia and I went to the Steelheads games against the Saginaw Spirit. We had seats behind the Mississauga bench. Susan was at the game, but was up in the City’s corporate box with people from work.

It was the first game back for Owen Tippett, he had spent time in the NHL with the Florida Panthers, after being selected 10th overall in the 2017 amateur draft.

The Steelheads won the game 4-2.
