Monday the girls and I went out to Mom and Dad’s for some more turkey. For dessert we had cake for Alex’s recent birthday. Emi and Claudia waiting for cake.

The weather for Thanksgiving weekend was great, so Angela, Claudia and I headed over to the school to play some soccer. I took a picture of this tree in the summer when it was green. My goal is to get one in the winter and spring.

I voted yesterday at an advance poll for this Thursday’s Ontario election. I’ll be in Quebec and I wasn’t sure if I’d make it back in time on Thursday to vote. Yesterday was the last day for advance voting and I got there around 7:30 pm, there was a lineup and I waited for half an hour before I could vote. I watched most of the debate when I was in Owen Sound on Tuesday, but I missed the part where they were comparing the “big one that got away”.
I found this blurb on a website and it’s funny how fishermen and politicians have so much in common.
It is often said that fishermen are habitual liars, albeit not malicious ones. In fact, all anglers do, at times, spin rather unbelievable “fish tales”, embellishing their stories in varying degrees (depending on who they are trying to impress at the time) with exaggerations of the size of fish caught or lost. To be fair to anglers, however, it is important to recognize that few, if any, are trained in the science of measurement. Compounding the problem is the fact that most fishermen are among the world’s worst estimators, guilty of not only stretching the truth a bit, but the size of fish as well. Today on the Google Search home page there is a Google Doodle tribute to what would have been Jim Henson’s 75th birthday. The characters vaguely resemble the google letters.
A little surfing around and I came across this on YouTube. Someone uploaded the Google Doodle Muppets singing the Black Eyed Peas “Boom Boom Pow”. Hilarious.
The girls had a PA Day last Friday. We headed out to Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area for a walk with Chloe. If she didn’t have leaves stuck to her it was burrs.

Chloe finally found a portion of the wall short enough for her to see over.
We learned today that Chloe doesn’t like stairs she can see through. There were grated stairs that lead down the escarpment. She wouldn’t go down, so Angela carried her down to the first landing. Then we tried to get her to come down another flight and she wasn’t having any of it.

There were quite a few people rock climbing while we were there.
After Rattlesnake Point we headed to Hilton Falls Conservation Area. On the way to the falls Chloe started going down the grated stairs, although these ones weren’t as open as the other ones.
The falls were more of a trickle, we’ll have to go back when the creek is running a little more.

The walk out to the falls was 4km one way. The weather was great and we had great time on the trails.
Our 13th “First Day of School”. The girls had a good first day, got their classes and teachers sorted out. Here are the girls and Chloe later in the day.

Typhoon Talas dumped record amounts of rain on Sunday in western and central Japan. The excess rain caused landslides in Tanabe, Wakayama Prefecture.

Claudia has her make-up game at 9:00 am Saturday morning. We arrived at 8:30 for practice ahead of time. Unfortunately the other team only had six girls show up, they need seven to play the game, so Claudia’s team won by default. They still played a fun game with some of the coaches playing goal.
A couple Claudia’s coaches getting in on the fun. Her team has a bye to the semi-finals and if they win that it’s onto the finals. Unfortunately we will still be on holidays and won’t be back in time.
In the afternoon, Angela had her make-up game, it was a little hotter and the sun was beating down on the spectator side. They ended up tied 4-4 against the first place team. Her team plays in the quarter-finals this week. Some of the subs trying to get some shade.
Chloe had an appointment with the groomer on Friday morning. Here she is before, a little shaggy.
