Jays Game

We are heading down to see the Blue Jays game on Sunday. It is Hall of Fame Day, they will be retiring Robbie Alomar’s number 12 jersey. He went into Copperstown Baseball Hall of Fame last weekend. We’ll need to make another trip down to see his plaque. We stopped there back in 1996 when we headed down to Massachusetts. The first 20,000 receive an Alomar bobblehead. Looking forward to seeing the game against Texas.

Soccer Photo of the Week

This is my soccer photo of the week, I like it because of the look of determination in Claudia’s eyes, she isn’t looking at the ball just to kick it, she is looking downfield. The girl in yellow gives the sense of action by her foot and arm actions.

Claudia

Claudia’s team played to a 2-2 draw, they had a lot of chances, just couldn’t finish them off. Angela’s game was scheduled for Thursday night, the league cancelled all games due to the extreme heat alert.

Outdoor Movie Night

On Saturday night we did our first backyard movie of the summer. Our feature was Rango. It was a good night, the girls had a couple of friends over, hoping to do another one soon.

Soccer Photo of the Week

Angela’s team won their soccer game 6-3, this was either the 5th or 6th goal, the goalie didn’t have a chance, but made it look good. I like the photo because you can see the ball bulging the twine at the back of the net.

Goaaaaal!

Congratulations after a well played game.

Another victory!

Survey Says!

Just before the mail strike, a survey came in the mail from our financial advisors office. Not one to usually fill these things out, I took the time to fill it in and mail it back. Partly because it was from his son who is working in the office for the summer and it looked like it was his project for the summer.

Fast forward to today and I picked up the mail. There was another envelope from their office, when I opened it up there was a $100 gift card for The Keg. Sweeet! The letter said I was one of the five surveys chosen to receive the gift card, so either it was my lucky day or they only received five surveys back.

Soccer Practice

Sitting at Claudia’s soccer practice. She is at the Panther development practice, it is run by the Mississauga North Soccer Association. Each night they do a different age group. It is run by the club coaches.

Some video from the first qualifying session at yesterday’s Free Friday.

Great Day at Toronto Indy

It was hot and sunny down at the Toronto Indy, there is lots to see and do, here are Gillian and Brittany sitting in the motorized Target shopping carts.

One of the freebies they were giving out were reusable folding shopping bags with the Target logo on them. Claudia and Angela checking out the shopping cart. I don’t think it was bigger than the one we found in Parksville, BC a couple of years ago.

One of the best things about the Free Friday at the Toronto Indy is that it allows you to get up and close to the cars and drivers. The main grandstand overlooks pit lane and as the cars come to pit lane, the drivers come down pit lane either by foot or by scooter. This is Takuma Sato of Japan.

Here is Mike Conway of Great Britain. There are three Canadians in the race and only four Americans out of the field of 26 cars.

You see all kinds of racing fans down there, this lady had a baby strapped to her chest and if you look closely, the baby has a pair of ear defenders on his head.

We left the qualifying early so we could get a good spot where they pass on the way back to the Paddocks. Last year we were on the news (okay so we were in the background) while we watched the cars and drivers go by. Here is two time winner, Paul (The Thrill From West Hill) Tracy’s car.

The Paddock area is where all the racing teams have their trailers and trucks set-up. It is where the teams will do the set-up work on the cars and where the drivers hang out in their trailers between qualifying runs. Firestone is the official supplier of tires for the IZOD IndyCar Series.

Soccer Photo of the Week

Here is my soccer photo of the week from Claudia’s game on Monday. I didn’t make it back in time for Angela’s game on Thursday, but she had a great game. Claudia played goal again for about half of the first half.
