Soccer Light

A couple of weeks ago there was a funky sun/sky at the girls soccer game. These were taken with my BlackBerry.

Happy Father’s Day!

Enjoyed a relaxing day today. Susan and the girls made me a Father’s Day cake.

It had me and Chloe taking pictures of the birds in the backyard.

I was able to get out early in the backyard before the rain came this morning and the humidity later in the day. The pair of cardinals were out and about early this morning.

This one looks like an Angry Bird.

His mate.

Chloe has been working hard to keep the squirrels out of the yard.

A house finch fledgling being fed.

Congratulations Gillian!

Gillian is headed to Ottawa this fall, she has accepted a co-op work term at Spartan Bioscience. According to their website, “Spartan brings complete sample-to-result DNA testing systems to medicine. Spartan’s technology fully integrates DNA collection, extraction and analysis, with an intuitive interface that is easy to operate. For the first time, healthcare providers and their patients can get DNA results on demand“. It also says “There is such a thing as a free lunch after all.” There is a company lunch every Friday.

Backyard Visitors

It was a hot weekend, Claudia was at her year-end camp with Rangers at Rockwood Conservation Area. When Susan and I dropped her off Friday evening, the campsites were packed.  Claudia is finished Rangers for the year, she is going back for her final year in the fall. We figured we have been driving the girls to Guiding events for the past 18 years. I had the camera out this morning before it got too hot. A couple of butterflies were hanging around the yard.

A female House Finch in the trees.

The bees were hanging out on the lilac bush.

Bed Beard

When we came back from Angela’s Road Test, Chloe greeted us at the door with bed beard. The picture doesn’t do justice, but it looked pretty wild.

Car Insurance Goes Down

Our car insurance went down a few dollars today, as Angela passed her G driving test. Congratulations Angela! Well done. Two down, one to go…

Blue Jays vs Yankees

It was Josh Donaldson Bobblehead Day at the final game of the Blue Jays vs Yankees four game series. Toronto needed the win to split the series. Angela had to work today, so Gillian invited Farriyan, a friend of hers from Mac.

With the rain and risk of thunderstorms the roof was closed again.

The Blue Jay mascot Ace, was up near our section.

We were in Section 512, Row 11, Seats 7-11.

The Jays won the game 3-2, it was Josh Donaldson hitting his 6th home run of the year in the bottom of the 8th inning for the lead. Roberto Osuna came in for a 1-2-3 ninth and struck out the side to earn his 13th save. It was a quick game, it only took 2 hours and 27 minutes.

After the game we headed to Chinatown for some dinner.

We went to Ajisen Ramen. Gillian had spotted it last time we were walking back to the Subway.

We parked at Kipling and took the Subway down to the game. The Line 1 from St. George to Sheppard West (formerly Downsview) was closed all weekend for the signal work. The Gardiner was also closed for most of the day due to a Heart & Stroke Bike ride. Here is Claudia trying to stretch her arms.

Uncle Tak’s Opening

Uncle Tak and Anona were in town for a few days. His opening was on Saturday at the Mira Godard Gallery. Susan, Gillian and I were able to go down for a couple of hours to visit and see his paintings.

Here is Uncle Tak with Mom and Dad.

A great photo of the brothers.

This was my favourite one, called “Crossing The Straight #1”. 2016

Howe Sound, 2016. I noticed that some of his paintings were not signed in the bottom right corner, so I asked Uncle Tak what was up with that? He said he doesn’t sign the paintings until after he frames them, and he forgot to sign them. Next thing he was walking around the gallery, and you could hear him say out loud “…this one isn’t signed either.” Some of them were just initialed t.t. instead of tanabe.

Collingwood Channel, 2017.

N. of Kamloops, 2016. Of the 12 paintings he had on display, they were all sold, except for this one.

Gillian pointing to Uncle Tak’s name.

Some sculptures at the gallery next door.

Looking east along Cumberland Ave.

We parked at Kipling and took the Subway down.

Happy Birthday Claudia!

Here is Angela getting ready to light the candles on Claudia’s nicely decorated cake.

Claudia photobombing the picture.

Happy 17th Birthday Claudia!

Backyard Bird Traffic

The backyard was busy with birds this weekend.

My third suet feeder, the first two were stolen by the raccoons last year, unless they have tools and posable thumbs, they aren’t getting this one.

Cardinals and finches.

A woodpecker dropped by.

The cardinal’s mate.

And off he goes.
