Claudia finished her soccer season on Saturday. Her team finished second during the regular season out of 8 teams. They won their first playoff game Saturday morning by default, the other team only had 6 players. With Angela moving into residence, we were unable to watch the semi-final game, one of her teammate’s parents drove her to the game. It was a close game in which they fell short 1-0, Claudia said the goal came off a corner kick. She had a great season playing goal for most of the year, she only let in about 10 goals with a few shutouts.
Off She Goes…
We dropped Angela off at University today. It was her move in day for Brandon Residence, the same one Gillian lived in in first year. Here she is with all her stuff.
A sign on campus for students, maybe they should have had a beer bottle in the guys hand.
This one’s a little blurry, we were being rushed out of the building, she got most of her things settled. Her roommate had already arrived. She has a week of orientation before classes start on the 6th. She is enrolled in the Kinesiology program.
A Week in Saskatchewan
I spent the week out in the Meadow Lake, SK area. Although the forecast kept threatening rain, we only got some the Monday night and the rest of the week was pretty good. A canola crop freshly harvested, it sits for 18 days before they collect it.
I’ve never stayed at the Nor’Wester Motor Inn, although I’ve bought expensive beer from the Cold Beer store and have eaten at the restaurant once.
Traveling back to Saskatoon on the Yellowed Highway.
Weather Office Humour
Noticed that there was a Special Weather Statement in Effect by Environment Canada for Tuesday.
Apparently there is a rare weather event expected for Southern Ontario on Tuesday: a rainy day.
Steve and Miranda’s Wedding
The wedding was at King’s Riding Golf Club in King City. After the heavy rains passed in the morning and early afternoon, the sun peeked out before the wedding. It was still hot and humid and showers were off and on, so the ceremony was held inside. I took some liberties with the sky.
Gathering on the back terrace with a drink to cool off.

The centre pieces were bobbleheads of the federal party leaders, we had Justin at our table. Claudia won it with the closest birthday, we also brought home Stephen Harper from Grandma’s table.

2016 Family Get Together
Saturday was the family get together at Mark and Gaila’s place. It was a gathering of the Uyeda’s, Tanabe’s, Imai’s and Okashimo’s. One of the appetizer’s was a somen noodle server. Fumie brought it from Japan.
It was pretty cool, the somen went around with the flow of cold water. You dipped your hashi in to pickup the somen noodles.
Mark and Carey bbq’d burgers, dogs and sausages.
There were approximately 32 guests, including some who we haven’t seen in a long time.
Claudia brought her die for the Saikoro game.
This is Saoirse, she is Jennifer Post’s youngest daughter.

I set-up my camera on the tripod for a family group shot. Gillian testing the timer option.
Followed by Emi.
Here is the family group shot. Can you see Kaiden in the background? Click on the photo to enlarge the photo.

This one had everyone at the party in the photo, everyone was watching Lily and Caris running off for a water break.
There were glow sticks for the kids.
It was a great day, the weather was perfect, food was plentiful and was great catching up with long lost relatives.
Totoro
We have a sparrow fledging that is a little demanding of its mother. It likes to sit in the tree and chirp away until it’s fed. It is able to fly on its own, but it can’t fly to the feeder. It looks like Totoro.

It gets all excited when the mother comes and starts flapping its wings.
Crawford Lake
Today we headed out to Crawford Lake Conservation Area on Guelph Line south of the 401. They have some new wood sculptures on the trails.
Chloe posing with the salamander.
And again with the turtle.
Crawford Lake, we took the trail around the lake.
A selfie with my wide angle.
Most of the trail on the one side of the lake is raised boardwalks.
We found some frogs along the trail.
More of the wood sculptures.
They have a reconstructed 15th century Iroquoian village.
The last time I was here was almost 10 years ago, in October 2006 with Angela’s Grade 3 school trip.
Chloe was a tired dog when we got home, she even laid down in the backseat on the way home.
