Chloe was relaxing in the backyard this morning.
Backyard Happenings
Some photos from the backyard recently. Angela and Claudia were playing badminton and Chloe was watching (waiting) for the birdie. As soon as it hit the ground she would grab it and take off.
The girls are pretty good now, so the birdie doesn’t hit the ground as often.
Our lilac bush has finally bloomed and with it has attracted the bees and butterflies.
The bees were busy.
The Region of Peel offers free landscape consultations to residents. It is called Fushion Landscaping. During the consultation they show you ways to create a modern, environmentally-friendly space and give you a personalized garden plan and plant list. They also give you some free stuff. Since we took the play structure down we have been thinking about how to make some changes to the backyard. Stay tuned.
End of Summer BBQ
We had an end of summer BBQ with the Skjold-Pettersen’s on Labour Day.
Not quite the spread as the Canada Day BBQ, but just as good.
Lars taking down the Canada Flag that was put up for our Canada Day BBQ.
Packed away until next summer. We missed Gillian and next year Maddy will be off to university.
Family Friendship Time Lapse
Before taking down the girls play tower in the backyard, I decided to do a time lapse as I dismantled it. After it came down it was to be transported to our friends backyard. They have three girls in grade 3, 1 and JK, they would give the tower many more years of use in their backyard.
I started dis-mantling the tower/ship in the backyard today, but not before some final photos with the girls. There is a website called Dear Photograph, essentially you take a picture of a picture, from the past, in the present. Here are my attempts.
These photos are from 10 years ago.
Here are the girls today recreating the shot from 10 years ago…
Even down to the same colour combination of their clothes.
The girls are good sports to humour their parents and recreate the photos.
The girls on the ship…
and 10 years later.
The End of an Era
We have finally received permission from all of the girls to dismantle the ship/tower in the backyard. Angela was the last to sign on, it will be going to a good home. I will take it apart and we will transport to the backyard of our friends Mario and Judi for Emma, Abbey and Katie to enjoy for a few more years. I will take pictures as it starts to come down. It has been around in some form for at least 13 years, but it is probably a couple of years older than that, Angela might have been only a baby when it was first built.
