Today we went to a concentration camp on the outskirts of Munich. The experience was incredible. We got an audio tour to guide us through the concentration camp. They were able to exhibit the way of life at the camp and the extreme horrors that the prisoners experienced. The camp was fairly large. The most interesting part of the camp was the crematorium section and the museum part. Afterwards we went to a market and then had some free time. I will do another post with more pictures!

Day 7 – Dachau Concentration Camp
Day 5- Travelling and Touring
Today we travelled to Munich by train and then we took a historic walk through Munich. The tour guide (and his cute son) was funny and gave us a euro that we passed around if we got a question right. I think overall I got 7 questions right but Tiffany won the euro in the end. I got great pictures of a golden church and downtown Munich is beautiful. Tomorrow we head to the concentration camp!
Hope all is well!

Day 4- Berlin Wall and Frankfurt
Today we went to the Berlin Wall Memorial. It was very cool to see the different walls that were up. It looks incredibly hard to try to escape that. I lifted Claud up for her to get a picture over the wall. I then realized I could see it from the memorial building. Some of 137 people killed were children. The memorial building told of the different accounts from people who successfully and unsuccessfully escaped over the wall. I bought an “authentic” piece of the wall but who knows if it actually is, it will remind me of it though which is the point! We also went to downtown Frankfurt to check out the city. It rained today so I will include some pictures of Claud and I in our rain ponchos, as well as some photos of the train station.

Day 3- East and West Berlin
We took a walking tour around Berlin. Our tour guides name was Brian Bell (look him up at brianbell.com) and he was really knowledgeable on the history as well made it fun for us. We learned all the history and events and saw really pretty buildings. After that we went to a play called “The Dungeon” where you walk around and actors in costumes tell you about the history in a creepy sort of way. It kind of reminded me of Disney or universal studios. The last stop we made was to “Topography of Terror” dedicated to documenting the works of the Gestopo and secret service as to try to prevent it from happening again. It was really interesting and I would love to visit Berlin again!

Their flight was on time and they are now on their way to Amsterdam for their connection to Berlin.
It will be a great two weeks of adventure for them.
Well Done Girls
Congratulations to Angela and Claudia on their terrific report cards. They picked them up today and did very well. Angela finished with an 88% university admission average and Claudia continues to excel with a 85% average.
Claudia is excited for next year as she starts her Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program in Information Communication Technology.
From the school website:
The program is for students in Grade 11 and 12 and is open to all students in university, collage, apprenticeship and workplace pathways. The program involves taking 4 core technology courses, a 2-credit technology coop opportunity, 3 additional elective credits as well as additional experiential and reach ahead activities and certifications.
Our program is designed to give students additional technology skills and opportunities that are increasingly valuable at post-secondary level and beyond. Our Lady of Mount Carmel has put together an exciting program where students are gaining access to programming in partnerships with numerous local businesses, post-secondary institutions such Sheridan Collage and Guelph Humber as well as industry recognized professionals in the communications industry.
Claudia has a co-op placement at Rogers starting in the fall. It will be an exciting year for her.
