Today we headed to a castle and a cheese farm. We took a van and went on the autobahn and went up to 150! We then headed to two churches that were both exquisite. The mountains around Munich are so beautiful. After the churches we went to a cheese farm and ate cheese and meat and got to pet goats and rabbits. Then we headed to the castle! The tour was short as it was an incomplete castle before the king died but the sight of is was amazing. On the way back we stopped in a field for more pictures and the police came and talked to the tour guides but everything was okay. This was one of the best days yet!

One of the leaders has been posting to Instagram photos of the girls on the trip, here are some of the photos. Touring the Berlin Wall.

The whole group touring near Munich.
Day 7 – Dachau Concentration Camp
Today we went to a concentration camp on the outskirts of Munich. The experience was incredible. We got an audio tour to guide us through the concentration camp. They were able to exhibit the way of life at the camp and the extreme horrors that the prisoners experienced. The camp was fairly large. The most interesting part of the camp was the crematorium section and the museum part. Afterwards we went to a market and then had some free time. I will do another post with more pictures!

Day 4- Berlin Wall and Frankfurt
Today we went to the Berlin Wall Memorial. It was very cool to see the different walls that were up. It looks incredibly hard to try to escape that. I lifted Claud up for her to get a picture over the wall. I then realized I could see it from the memorial building. Some of 137 people killed were children. The memorial building told of the different accounts from people who successfully and unsuccessfully escaped over the wall. I bought an “authentic” piece of the wall but who knows if it actually is, it will remind me of it though which is the point! We also went to downtown Frankfurt to check out the city. It rained today so I will include some pictures of Claud and I in our rain ponchos, as well as some photos of the train station.

Day 3- East and West Berlin
We took a walking tour around Berlin. Our tour guides name was Brian Bell (look him up at brianbell.com) and he was really knowledgeable on the history as well made it fun for us. We learned all the history and events and saw really pretty buildings. After that we went to a play called “The Dungeon” where you walk around and actors in costumes tell you about the history in a creepy sort of way. It kind of reminded me of Disney or universal studios. The last stop we made was to “Topography of Terror” dedicated to documenting the works of the Gestopo and secret service as to try to prevent it from happening again. It was really interesting and I would love to visit Berlin again!
