Toronto Wolfpack League Champions

On Saturday afternoon, I headed down to Lamport Stadium to meet up with Stam to take in the second last match of the season. The Toronto Wolfpack had the chance to clinch the League 1 title and earn promotion to the next tier. I took the GO train down and as I was walking up to the stadium, I passed the TFC fans marching to the TFC game at BMO Field.

I had heard about this but never saw it in person, quite the spectacle with the drums, smoke bombs, flares and sea of red.

The Wolfpack got off to a slow start and it was only 8-0 at the half. They came on in the second half with 3 tries in 9 minutes, for a 26-2 final over the Barrow Raiders.

There was a new attendance record set with 7,972 fans.

The victory earned the Wolfpack promotion to the Kingstone Press Championship, the second division in English rugby league. Looking forward to catching some games next year.

Toronto Wolfpack

On Saturday evening, I met Stam down at Lamport Stadium to take in the Toronto Wolfpack vs Hunslet RLFC. The Wolfpack are the first trans-atlantic major professional sports team.

The Toronto Wolfpack are in the English Rugby Football League (RFL), playing in the Kingstone Press League 1 competition. The tickets were $21 for General Admission.

There are only 3 Canadians on the team, the rest are mainly from England and Wales, others like Fuifui Moimoi are from Tonga.

Once we clued into the rules, it started to get interesting. There are 13 players aside.

It was a great night for the game. As you can see we watched from all parts of the stadium. There are two halves each 40 minutes with a 15 minute break.

There is a beer garden at the north end with all craft brewers.

The Wolfpack extended their undefeated season to 12-0, defeating Hunslet 56-12, the announced crowd was 6,042. The team is aiming to win promotion to the 2nd tier Championship League for next season.
