Santa Visit

The girls and I headed down to the mall for the annual photo with Santa. We went to the Erin Mills Town Centre where the “good” Santa is. As always, as we wait in line waiting for him to come we wonder if it is the real Santa. We got to the mall just before his 6:00 PM shift started so the line wasn’t bad. When it was the girls turn, Santa’s first question to Gillian was how old she was. Gillian told him and at the end when they were leaving he said to her “your a good sport!”. As I was waiting for the photo, I could hear Santa saying a little louder than usual “what kind of hair dryer was that?”.

Chloe’s Sweater

I made Chloe a sweater to keep her a little warmer in the snow. I had made Coco a sweater like this years ago. Here is Chloe modelling her sweater.

Chloe

It is made from a hockey sock. Not having any lying around the house, I had to go buy one. We picked the Detroit Red Wings colours since it was closest to the Team Canada colours. Our other choices were the Habs (never!), the Kings (black on black, we’d never see her at night) or the Leafs (didn’t want her buddies to make fun of her).

Another Play date for Chloe

Chloe had another buddy over to the house. Karen who was our sitter for the girls and now comes over and lets Chloe out during the day has put their house on the market. They were having a couple of showings tonight, so they asked if Hailey could come over for a couple of hours. Susan and I had a School Council meeting, but the girls were home. Karen has brought Hailey over during the day when she lets Chloe out, so they get along. Of course Chloe being the puppy she is, gets all spazzy and is always bugging Hailey.

Chloe and Bella

We went to Ikea for the breakfast combo today. The breakfast combo is the $1.00 breakfast and because we’re there we inevitably buy the rest of the combo. The best way to keep the combo down is to take the Yaris. While we were there Gillian received a text from Sarah to see if we could let Bella out through the day. We thought why not just bring Bella over and her and Chloe can play, or rather Chloe could bug Bella all day. Eventually Chloe settled down and she followed Bella around.

I had them outside for some photos. I asked them to look at me.

Then look up and to the left.

Report Cards and Interviews

Angela and Claudia brought home their report cards this week, they both did well. I went in for the interviews with their teachers today. Claudia’s teacher was filling in for a mat leave, so he is finished in a week and then Claudia will have a new teacher. Angela’s teacher was Gillian’s teacher in grade one, that was her first fulltime teaching gig. Gillian is on semester so she received her mid-term report and her highest mark was in gym, go figure. She is doing good and has adjusted well to high school.

Final Trip?

What should be my final trip before the end of the year starts tomorrow for four days. I’m heading to Chapais, Quebec up near Chibougamou. I’m flying to Montreal, then to Val D’or and then it is another 4.5 hour drive to Chapais. The weather is suppose to be good and the operator has said there isn’t too much snow on the ground. This trip gets me to Prestige Aeroplan status, but I fell short of the Elite status.

Backyard Fun

We took advantage of another good weekend and the girls rake up the last of the leaves in the backyard. First they all had to try on the yard waster bag. Can you tell who is who?

Uncle Tak Exhibition

Uncle Tak Exhibition

If you’re going to be in Banff, Alberta between now and January 31, 2010 be sure to stop at The Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies. There is an exhibition called Whyte Winter Wonderland featuring Mountains in Winter by Takao TanabeFrom the Whyte Museum website,

The exhibition features 14 new watercolour works by Takao Tanabe. These images capture the feel of winter in the Canadian Rockies. Tanabe spent several winters teaching at The Banff Centre in the 1970s and 80s. It was a later artists’ residency there, funded by a Fleck Fellowship, that inspired these winter artworks. As a response to this selection, we have included watercolour paintings and prints by other artists from the Whyte Museum’s collection, who have also celebrated winter in their work.
