Gas Prices!

I filled up the tank on the rental van and I put in 63.853 L and it only cost me $63.79. It was 99.9 cents/L. This graph shows a comparison between Toronto and Halifax for the month of June.

Where is Keji?

Kejimkujik (usually pronounced here as kedge-im-a-kou-gic, with the accent on the 4th syllable) is about 160 km from Halifax. It is a National Park and National Historic Site.

Drove through Lunenburg on my way back to Halifax.

I had dinner at Peggy's Cove, it was early evening so there were not alot of people around.

I should have put my arm out and it would have looked like I was leaning on the lighthouse.

I thought this was just a lobster statue that they had for tourists, but I saw another one in the airport. This is like the Toronto Moose, Chicago Cows and the Victoria Whales. It is called "Lobsters in the City".

A final picture from Peggy's Cove.

Quick trip to Kejimkujik

Due to instrument problems at our Kejimkujik site in Nova Scotia, I had to make an emergency service trip this week. I flew in last night to Halifax and went out to the site this morning to fix the problems. Turned out to be a fairly quick fix, so I may drive back to Halifax along the coast line. I fly back to Toronto first thing tomorrow morning.

Sculpture Garden

I took a walk over to the Sculpture Garden yesterday after dinner. It was still very hot, but after the rain overnight, it has cooled off. The main sculpture is called Spoonbridge and Cherry.

There is a fountain coming out of the top of the cherry.

This one is called Hare on Bell

The Minneapolis skyline

There seem to be lots of rabbits around, sometimes you walk by and there are a couple of them just sitting there, like this guy.

Earlier in the day I found the Mary Tyler Moore statue that is downtown.

Minneapolis

It is hot day in Minneapolis today. I walked around abit today during lunch break and after the first session.

They have a square downtown where there is live music during lunch time. I had a bratwurst and fries for lunch.

This is Orchestra Hall, I think it is a music hall of some type. See the sign on the door. Here is a close up.

This is the city where they filmed the introduction to an old tv series, Mary Tyler Moore. The tall building in the picture is the IDS Centre, that is where they filmed the elevator scene in the opening credits.

In the downtown area, there are all kinds of links between the buildings. It is called the skyway, it's like a big hamster habitat trail system.

In the afternoon, I saw these guys grazing on the grass by the convention centre.

A closer photo of one of the rabbits.

While downtown I saw an accident.

Coffee Service in Mudville

Today when I stopped for a coffee at Tim Horton's, I was served by Jan Betker and Joan McCusker, they were part of the women's Olympic gold medal curling team in Nagano in 1998. It was Camp Day at Tim's, and they were some of the celebrity help.

The rain continues today, the fields are flooding on some of the farms, it almost looks like they are lakes. Ducks and geese are swimming around. With all the rain, it becomes mudville, some of the soil just sticks to the soles of your shoes and you instantly grow a couple of inches.

Rental car

My rental vehicle is a 2005 Toyota Sienna, just like ours except it is silver. When I come out of a store I'm always looking for the gray one. As you can see I took this photo yesterday.

Bratt's Lake Wildlife

I saw some wildlife today running around the bunker. You have to look closely to see him. There were two of these guys running around chasing each other. The rain is coming down harder now, so I went back inside to wait it out.

Raining and windy

It has been raining most of the morning and it is very windy. The temperature was only 10 degreesC. Having trouble getting the equipment running properly.

Regina

Finally made it to Regina. Landed about noon local time. Drove out to the site, it was a nice afternoon. The rain is on its way.

Flight delays!

I had an unexpected delay in Winnipeg this morning. I left Toronto at 6:30am this morning and was suppose to be in Regina by 8:40am local time via a connecting flight in Winnipeg. However, we were delayed a bit in Toronto and by the time we landed, they wouldn't hold the other plane for about 10 of us. So we had to wait for the next flight to Regina which was 3 hours later.

I have found that this blog format is easier to keep the girls up to date while I am away.
