We headed up to the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg for the opening.
This photo was taken on our way out. A car had stopped to let me take the picture
and then I heard a car beep behind it, the impatient one was Danny in his van.
There were speeches by curators and Ontario Government people, and then Uncle Tak
said a few words.
It seems some of us have received our invitations to Uncle Tak's opening at the
McMichael
on Sunday. We would be part of the "Have" list. However my sisters seem
to be on the "Have Not" list. With the invitation comes complimentary
parking and admission.
In Friday's Toronto Star there was an article on Uncle Tak, you can read
it here.
This week I ordered the "Sesame Street Old School : 1969-1974" DVD box
set. It has the first episode from each year and then a selection of classic sketches
from each of the years.
We have only watched the first episode, but here are some screen shots from it.
Note how Big Bird's head is more pointed then it is now. Maybe it's just that he
was a lot younger back then.
Ernie and Bert haven't changed much. Although Ernie's nose seems a touch darker.
Check out Oscar the Grouch, for the first season he was orange.
Cookie Monster trying to eat Kermit's leg.
A couple of years ago I had bought the CD box set of "Songs from the Street:
35 Years of Music: Sesame Street".
The girls were outside yesterday and today playing in the backyard. They have been
playing on a little pile of snow that they made and has since frozen solid to become
their own little mogul.
Claudia waiting to go down the run.
Gillian making it down in one piece.
Angela displaying fine form as she goes on one foot.
Angela coming back up to the top of the run.
Claudia not to be outdone by her sisters.
Gillian started out this time standing up, but by the time she reached...
Next week there will be two exhibitions in the Toronto area of Uncle Tak's work.
The first is at the McMichael
Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg. It runs January 27 to May 21, 2007. This
is the exhibition that has been going across the country the past year, it started
in Victoria, Vancouver and Halifax.
The second exhibition is at the Mira
Godard Gallery in Yorkville. It runs January 27 to February 17, 2007. This exhibition
will be of new paintings and a print retrospective.
The good thing about it is you only have to enter the name of the DVD and it goes
to the IMDB to get the information.
The majority if the movies can be found there, some of the television series have
to be manually entered. It can export the information into a variety of file formats
or you can print off the catalogue. I have exported mine to HTML and it can be viewed
here. The other
good thing is it is free!
What could actually be called the first snow occurred in Mississauga today. Never
mind the Environment Canada definition of a snowfall, it is whether the kids can
actually play in the snow.
Angela and Claudia behind their make-shift fort.
Looks like we're in for some more snow overnight.
Gillian was at a Guide sleep-over at the Canadian
Warplane Heritage Museum in Mt Hope. We dropped her off on Saturday night at
6:00pm and Papa and Grandma picked her up at 8:45am this morning. They slept on
the floor under the planes. She had a good time.
I made it back from Regina late Thursday night. It was a cold week on the prairies
with Winter Storm Watches and Warnings and Wind Chill Warnings. When I left it was
-42 deg.C with the wind chill. Read more on the work
blog.
Things are back to normal, the girls are back at school this week, Susan is back
to work and I'm traveling for work. The girls had a good two weeks off. During the
last week they watched the four Harry Potter movies about 5 times each during the
last week. They have been busy with their Perler
Beads, they were introduced to them by their cousin Rachel and now we have been
overrun by them.
