Another Night, Another Hotel...
This has been a record trip for number of hotels. Tonight will be my fifth different
hotel on this trip. I'm in Corner Brook for the night and then flying back home
tomorrow. Staying at the Glynmill Inn. It was built in the 1920's.
Went for a walk around downtown Corner Brook. This is a pulp and paper town and
you can smell it in the air.
It is still winter here, it was -14 degrees with the wind chill and a lot of snow
on the ground.
The Majestic Theatre on Church St.
Close-ups of the murals on the side of the theatre.
This mural is on the side of a restaurant.
Touring the coast
We took a drive down to Harbour
Breton today. It is on the coast about 70 km south of Head of Bay D'Espoir.
It was a cold, cloudy day, although the sun peeked out now and then.
Harbour Breton is your typical looking Newfoundland town.
There is a fish processing plant in the town.
Looking back at the town.
The area has numerous bays, that are almost fjord like with the high rising cliffs.
Pack as many houses onto the side of the hill.
Stored lobster traps.
Storage sheds at waters edge.
Return to Winter
Flew into Deer Lake (just east of Corner Brook) today and was picked up by one of
our inspectors at the airport. We drove to Grand Falls-Windsor for the night and
then it's onto our site down in Head of Bay D'Espoir tomorrow. There is still snow
on the ground and it was blowing snow for most of the drive.
I was able to connect with the girls this afternoon on MSN. I can see the girls
on the webcam and we can talk to each other.
