Snow Day
The school board declared a Snow Day today and closed all schools. It
was my scheduled day off and Susan had planned on working at home, but
she didn't plan on having everyone at home with her. The girls were
outside throughout the day. Here are Angela and Claudia out front.
After dinner we went over to Sue and Mike's, they had a fire out back
and the girls got to roast marshmellows.
It was still snowing at 8:00 pm.
Our street after a snow storm.
Angela and Claudia still going strong in the snow.

Snow Day Part II & III
The girls had their second and third snow days in less than a week. On
Wednesday the schools were closed again. I went into work and it only
took me an extra 10 minutes to get in, Susan had her night meeting
cancelled. On Thursday they opened the schools but cancelled the buses.
Gillian walked to and from school, but Angela and Claudia went to
Karens. Thursday was one of the school boards goofy Early Release day,
so they closed the school at lunch time and send the kids home. I should
have taken a snow day as it took me 2 and a half hours to get to work.
Thursday morning was when the trucks were having problems on the 401
getting up some of the hills.

He's no JC Petite
Angela, Claudia and I headed into Scarborough to watch Alex's hockey
game. It was his turn to play goalie.
Making a save. This one stayed out of the net.
He is well positioned.
It's not quite the Ken Dryden pose, but it seem to be his favourite
position when the play was down at the other end.
Angela and Claudia taking in the action. The game was at Heron Park
where I use to play my games, they have renovated the lobby area, but
the arena looks the same.
Not sure where the rest of his team was, looks like a 4 on none for the
other team.
Here is some game action video.

He did pretty good, although he was no JC Petite from the McDonald's
commercial.

End of Spending Freeze...Leads to Deep Freeze
We finally had our spending freeze at work lifted last month. The end of
the spending freeze has me going into the deep freeze. My travel
schedule is picking up and has me going to Regina this week. They are
currently under a Wind Chill Warning. It is -45 degrees Celcius with the
wind chill. It is suppose to warm up to -30 °C while I'm out there. I
was up in North Bay last week and then I'm heading up to Kapuskasing
later in the month. Will try and update the work blog From
Here To There as I go.

Public Speakers
Both Gillian and Angela were chosen from their classes to participate in
the Intermediate Division and Junior Division Public Speaking contest.
Unfortunately neither Susan or I were able to attend. Both girls did
well. Angela's speech was on the Titanic and Gillian's speech was on
Wacky Weird and Interesting facts about the human body. Here is Angela
with her certificate.
And Gillian with her award.

Snow Shots
A few photos from around the house. Our chiminea in the backyard, if we
get the snow they're calling for on Sunday is may get buried completely.
Some of the bushes out in the front.
This car is one street over and it hasn't moved all winter, pretty soon
the snow plow will take its back end out, thinking it's just a pile of
snow.

No Child Without
The girls school is one of 17 initial schools in their school board that
has been chosen to participate in the No
Child Without program. This is a charitable program that offers all
elementary school aged children with medical conditions or allergies,
free MedicAlert protection. They are eligible until they turn 14 years
old.
Wade Figurines
Awhile back I had bought some shelf things from Ikea, they were on sale
and they were along the same lines as our coffee table. I was thinking
of making an end table, but when I opened the box I noticed the edges
are not finished that nice, normally you wouldn't see the sides because
it is a shelf for a wall unit. I found a use for one of them, I put the
Red Rose tea Wade figurines in it. I figure I will mount it to the wall
in the office.
A search on the internet shows that I am missing Humpty Dumpty, The old
lady and the shoe, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Gingerbread Man and the Cat and
the fiddle from the nursery rhyme set. From the animals set I am missing
the giraffe, walrus and deer. If anyone has these ones kicking around
the house and are looking to display them in a nice case, feel free to
send them my way.
Angela's Speech
The mother of one of Angela's friends had video taped part of Angela's
speech. She dropped off a copy for us. Thanks Sandra!
