First Day of School
Today was the first day of school for the girls, there were some mixed
emotions about going back, but in the end everything went well for each
of them. They are happy with their teachers and the friends in their
classes. They started the day with the traditional "First day of school
photo".

September Activities
Gillian and Angela started their Pathfinders and Guides this week, we're
still waiting for Claudia's Brownie group to start. Angela meeting was
only an hour this week so Claudia and I rode our bikes over with Angela
to the school. From there we rode down to Lake Aquitane.
The camera was attached to my handlebars, that's why it is a little
crooked.
Claudia riding through one of the tunnels along the bike path that goes
under a major road.
Here is a flash video of Claudia riding her bike ahead of me.

Jesse Knievel
I received some pictures of Jesse from Shanna. Not sure if this is a
sneak peek of his halloween costume or just his everyday wear.
Evel Knievel and Wendell.

Congratulations Gillian!
Congratulations go out to Gillian who was chosen as one of the co-Prime
Ministers of the Student Council. They provide written answers to
questions and the teacher representatives pick the student council
members from both grade 7 and 8. She had tried last year but did not get
chosen.

Wendell Kayaking
Here is the picture of Wendell kayaking with Shanna. She left a comment
saying he should be on the blog, so here he is (or was Shanna trying to
get her picture on the blog).
The Evel Knievel outfit was for the Rossland Superhero Parade during Rossfest.

Hello I'm a Mac and I'm a PC...
I have been thinking of switching our main family computer to an iMac
from a PC. The more I read about it and talk to Mac users the more
convinced I become. Originally I was looking at the MacBook laptop, but
for the amount of mobility we actually need and the price difference
between the iMac and MacBook I'm leaning more towards the iMac. And the
commercials are better than any PC or Microsoft commercial, even the new
Jerry Seinfeld/Bill Gates series.

Hershey Centre Birthday
Today Angela, Claudia and I went out to the Hershey Centre for their
10th Anniversary celebration. Susan and Gillian went shopping at Square
One. We went to the Hershey Sportzone opening last year and it was
pretty good, so we thought we'll go to this one this year.
Angela and Claudia under the balloon rainbow.
We were there early to enjoy the free hotdog and pop courtesy of the
Mississauga St.Michaels Majors.
Later on we went back outside and the girls had another pop and I had
another hotdog.
There was entertainment in the arena, there was a stage and some
inflatable obstacle courses. This was Giorgio the Magician from Italy.
His helper was Nathan (or Brandon, they're twins), he was in Claudia's
class last year and on the two field trips I went on, he was in my group.
We headed back outside to listen to Mayor McCallion rally the crowd and
asking the ethnic groups to go to the Majors games this year. This is
Canada and hockey is our game, don't just watch soccer.
Hazel McCallion and the St. Michaels Majors.
Claudia and Angela with their St. Mike's helmets.
Next was the cake cutting with the mayor and a couple of the Councillors.
And yet another rousing speech by the mayor about what a great facility
the Hershey Centre is and how us the citizens need to use it and come
and watch the Majors.
The lamp posts outside the Hershey Centre are shaped as Hershey Kisses.
It was a good day and the girls enjoyed themselves. We enjoyed free
hotdogs, pop, popcorn, peanut-free twizzlers and nibs, chocolate (Dad)
and Ice breakers.
One last ride on the giant slide.
Dale's Milestone
We were out to Hamilton on Saturday to celebrate Dale's 50th Birthday.
Lori had a party for some family and friends. Dale's peanut-free cake.
Brad, Alex and Claudia waiting for cake.
Melissa having a hard time deciding where she should put the "50"
candles.
The birthday boy!
Angela helping Uncle Dale put on his birthday hat.
Next it was the necklace and the flashing "Kiss Me I'm 50" pin.
Now we're ready to sing Happy Birthday!
Up next were the presents.
And then finally it was time for cake, Angela and Claudia waited for
their guinea pig (aka Brad) to eat the cake first. If nothing happened
to him, then they would know the cake was safe to eat.
The peanut-free buddies enjoying their cake.
When the girls were making their birthday card, I looked for pictures
of them with Dale, I could only find ones of Dale with either Claudia or
Gillian, but not Angela. So here is at least one picture with Angela and
Dale.

Mississauga Car Free Day
Today was Mississauga's
Car Free Day. Mayor Hazel McCallion at 87 years old led by example
and rode her bike from her home to City Hall. Someone Susan works with
sent around some photos of Hazel riding to work. The MAYOR1 is the same
as her licence plate.
She wasn't alone on her ride she had some police escorts on bicycles,
motorcycles and cars.
